So the reason .... economy .... people wanting not to waste the extra things that they grow ...
A group can create a system of swap and share if it is ok ..... this was the very first form of trading ..... and it worked until the middle person wanted to take a share of the profits .....
This can reduce waste food too .....
Nobody wants to waste food ..... a vital resource we have ..... and will always need to maintain.
